Info/Material to Assist Event Captains:
General Information Regarding Senior Board Events Del Rio Country Club
The Senior Board sponsors several golf tournaments each year. Each event is assigned to one or more Board members who serve as Captains or Co-Captains for these events. The Captains are responsible for ensuring the successful completion of the events assigned to them. Generally, longer-term members serve in the lead and newer members assist them in order to gain tournament experience. Bill Tonge, Tournament Coordinator, is responsible for tournament scheduling and overseeing tournament preparations.
The tasks on this page will be useful for Captains as they prepare for their assignments. Additional information is provided for HOME PROCEDURES (or those events held at Del Rio) and for AWAY PROCEDURES (or those events held at other clubs) by selecting the appropriate buttons above. As the Captains experience deviations from these guidelines, they are encouraged to pencil in notes so that improvements can be made to future tournaments.
The price for all events is set at $42 per participant, except for the Guys
& Dolls tournament. Total cost for a Home event is only $26 for members on the cart program. Captains are responsible for accurately assessing the number of Del Rio and host club participants and collecting checks from guest clubs and providing Renee Smith with a list of Del Rio participants so she can charge their accounts.• The price for food and drink for each event is $19 (per participant), which includes breakfast and lunch with desert. Lunch also includes beer. Captains are responsible for meeting with Amber to select the type of breakfast and lunch desired.
• $16 per participant is allotted for carts. Renee distributes these funds to the Pro Shop. Members on the cart program are not charged the cart fee - making the total cost only $26 for those members on the cart program.
• $6 per participant is used for prize money including closest to the hole prizes. Captains are responsible for setting up the prize levels (typically, one third of the field is paid in prize money). The customary prize for closest to the hole is $20, or a bottle of wine. One hole is assigned per club participating. Meet with Amber if wine is to be given for closest to the hole prizes. Meet with Renee as soon as the final list of all participants and prize levels/payouts are determined so that she can prepare prize envelops. She will give these to Fred Rodriquez who will make the presentations at lunch.
• $1 per participant is given to the bag boys. Fred distributes these funds.
• If you anticipate a chilly morning on the day of the event, check with the President regarding the provision of hot beverages at the turn.
• Check (s) for events should be made out to Del Rio. Renee can then arrange to have them deposited to the Senior Men's account. If a check is made out to Del Rio Seniors, the Treasurer will have to make a trip to the bank to deposit the monies.
• Meet with Amber to arrange for the registration table, which will be positioned at the entrance to the breakfast room.
